Decadence: Prologue

We saw the end…and not knowing what it was, we embraced its childlike form. There it was suspended in a moment called the beginning. And certainly, she was the beginning of the end.
Exil stood transfixed by the scene that played out before him as his father took a sleeping infant from the hands of the spirit that dwelled in the tree of life. A pang of sorrow swept through him as the girl’s eyes slowly opened upon a man who cared nothing for her. She was a sacrifice, created to save a world she knew nothing of.
